San Fransisco

After leaving Hawaii, Maverick and I took a 21-hour flight to San Francisco because it had a 9-hour layover in Phoenix which is where my uncle lives, and we got to visit with him (and a cheaper flight!) Then once we arrived in San Francisco, the U-Haul location forgot to put our truck out, so we ended up waiting 4 hours at the airport with all our gear trying to figure out a car which was probably the longest 4 hours ever! We eventually got a ride from the family we were staying with and picked up the U-Haul the next day. Then got our gear set up in San Francisco and started training!

San Francisco rarely fail to deliver stellar conditions and I was not disappointed. The training consisted of lots of work on our starts and speed. One day, we couldn’t see the rest of the sailors or anything more than 10 feet away from us as it was so foggy! I learned a lot from the training and continued to push my comfort zone in big conditions. The regatta pushed my mental game as it brought shifty and crazy condition that required focus and the ability to not let the previous race affect the next one

San Francisco is always so amazing; sailing around Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge never gets old. On top of that it brought us back to see many old friends. Maverick and I got dinner with Fiona Wylde (previous iQ campaigner and 3-time SUP World Champion!) who we hadn’t seen in a while which was so nice! We also got to stay with Maverick’s sister for a little and visit with her and her boyfriend’s two great dogs (pictured below). Overall, San Francisco continues to be one of my favorite places to sail and I can’t wait to go back!
