Spring 2022
I truly have found a second home at WashU. It has allowed me to thrive not only as a student athlete but as a person too. On the student side of things, this semester I took Matrix Algebra, Physics 194 (Intro to Physics but for students considering pursuing physics), a sustainability course, College Writing, and Intro to Computer Science. I really enjoyed all of my courses and learned a lot! I particularly liked my Matrix Algebra class as it was. a cool way to simplify math and think about it in a different way.
From the athlete side of things, I continued the WashU rowing team. Spring season consists of sprint races which are 2000 meters and take about 8 minutes. This makes for fast paced and extremely physically demanding races that pushed my limits athletically. We continued to train what we like to call “dark and early” three times a week at 5AM. The season concluded with ACRA which is the collegiate club rowing nationals. I rowed in a 4-person boat, and we finished 5th overall! I was also named to the All-Plains Regional Team and the First-Year team. Beyond my experiences on the water, I truly found my best friends on the rowing team and couldn’t have found a better group of people-win or lose.
This semester allowed me to continue my journey towards my degree and prepare me for when I could get back on the iQFOiL while being very far from my kit and any body of water I could windsurf in. My Midwestern journey continues, and I continue to fall more in love with the place, my newfound sport, and most definitely the people!
